Hotel Description:

Secluded at Makena Resort on a perfect .25 mile of a beach at the foot of Haleakala, the Maui Prince Hotel is a sanctuary. The serenity can be felt from the first moment a lei of seashells is draped over your shoulders and you are welcomed with the genuine smiles and warm attention of the staff. The entire hotel is built around an Asian meditation garden with stone paths, quiet corners for contemplation, waterfalls, and streams swarming with brilliant red and gold carp. The roof is the sky. The door of every room opens to this atrium, while the windows and lanai look out upon the ocean. Most people settle into the immediate serenity and find themselves sitting beside the pool or on the beach, watching all the little white boats streaming to Molokini. And if the sea is calm, they may hear the great humpback whales singing in the deep.

Makena North Golf Course - Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Makena North Course opened in 1993 to rave reviews. The North Course feels more like a nature walk than a golf course, with captivating mountain views of Haleakala Crater and sweeping views of the blue Pacific Ocean. Hawaiian rock walls remain where they were found, and natural gullies and stream beds are left intact.

Makena South Golf Course - Sharing the spirit that embodies the Makena Resort, the South Course provides the serenity and tranquility many golfers are looking for. With its natural rolling fairways, undulating greens, and breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains, the South Course is a favorite among many Maui golfers. Both courses are owned and operated by the hotel. All new grass from tee to green, new bunker sand, and concrete cart path has been added. The Makena South Course will be closing on Tuesday May 27, 2008 for deferred maintenance and renovation. The closure is anticipated to last twelve to eighteen months. The Makena North Course will remain open for play as will the driving range and the Makena Clubhouse Restaurant.

Prince Keiki Club - Our popular children's program, Prince Keiki Club. Keiki (children) ages 5-12 can enjoy hours of fun and meet friends from around the world, with activities such as sand castle building, pool swims, Hawaiian arts and crafts, treasure/scavenger hunts, treasure box making, and much more.

Maui Prince guests can relax poolside in one of our cabanas, or beachside with our Beach Concierge staff.

Guests will be allowed to smoke on the lanais of designated room. All other guestrooms will be designated as non-smoking both on the lanai and within the room. Guests who smoke within a guestroom may incur a deep-cleaning charge of up to 200USD as determined by the Hotel Assistant Manager.

Other designated smoking areas within the hotel are: Front Entrance - To the right of the Porte Cochere Holokai Pavillion - Near the bridge over the Koi Pond Recreations Area - On the Volleyball Court near the showers next to the Pool Bar.

These changes have been made as a result of the new Hawaii State Second Hand Smoke Bill that will come in effect on November 16. This law covers all enclosed or partially enclosed areas open to the public in Hawaii. Violators of this law and owners of establishments where the violation occurs will be subject to fines.
