The Pousada was once give the grade of chateau but now it has changed to that of a more average Pousada. The service by the staff however is very good.08/07 mp Exterior: It reveals, in spite of its modern atmosphere and spacious rooms, the historical and cultural grandiosity of the village of Almeida, now a classified national monument. Room Information : Rooms are spacious with some silk embroidery panels. A number of rooms also have verandas with very commanding views.

Restaurant: Serves local dishes, such as carneiro a moda de forno de algodres (lamb in red wine), bacalhau a beira alta (salted cod fish), bifes de presunto a moda da beira (smoked ham), lingua de vitela a beira (casseroled veal). The restaurant also offers good flambe dishes. This Pousada also has a very accomplished pastry chef. The wines form nearby pinhel are very good and should be sampled.
